Answers to the questions we’re asked most about Lion’s Mane and our Lion’s Mane tincture.

What is Lion’s Mane?

A white, spined “tooth fungus” (Hericium erinaceus) that grows on hardwood trees and has long been eaten in East Asia. See What Is Lion’s Mane Mushroom?

What part of the mushroom do you use?

The fruiting body, grown in the UK. We don’t use mycelium or grain.

How is it extracted?

In hot water, using ultrasonic extraction, and separately in plant-derived ethanol. The two are combined into one tincture. See How Lion’s Mane Extracts Are Made.

How do I take it?

Shake the bottle well, then take 1–2ml daily, directly or in water, juice, tea or another drink. Don’t exceed 3ml per day.

How long does a bottle last?

A 50ml bottle lasts approximately 25 days at the suggested amount.

What does it taste like?

Mild and earthy, with the warmth of the alcohol. Many people take it in a drink.

Does it contain erinacines?

Erinacines are found mainly in Lion’s Mane mycelium. Our tincture is made from fruiting bodies, so we don’t claim it contains them. See Erinacines Explained.

What will it do for me?

We don’t make health claims. No health claims are authorised for Lion’s Mane in the UK, and the research is still at an early stage. See Lion’s Mane Research.

Does it contain alcohol?

Yes. The alcohol content is shown on the label. See How Much Alcohol Is in a Mushroom Tincture?

Can anyone take it?

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition, speak to a healthcare professional first. Keep out of the reach of children.

How should I store it?

Keep it closed, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. See Shelf Life and Storage.
